I suggest you demo an Aerway, set in the aggressive position, running at an angle to the corn rows behind the combine in the fall rather than chopping the stalks.  runs 8" deep and will help break up some surface compaction from harvest also. Don't have a wet mat in the spring nor pieces of residue blowing to the fenceline. Will help stalks break down a bit by spring even without the AMS. Worth a try. jmho.
