We were at the second to last launch,British,Polish,English,Canadians,Germans,all cheering the launch. A matter of national pride. we do have a shuttle replacement program(info at Huntsville) if our nation deems it a priority. I believe it is a sad state of affairs to rely on the Russians for exploration. As a national news caster expressed"who would of thought?" Society has benefited in numerous ways from filling NASA requests,of which probably would not have been invented in a strictly private atmosphere.
