Pasco WA.
I have taken all of my hay acres out. Replaced them with high moisture corn for local feedlots. Even with todays hay prices I am not planning to plant any this fall. Corn is just too easy and makes as much or more net profit. It's the same basic story all over the state. Hay was way too cheap the last 2 years so when grain prices took off hay acres came out of production. I had an alfalfa seed salesman call last week. Told him I was not planting any because their are lots easier ways to make a living. He says thats he is hearing that a lot. Even with the high hay prices he is not expecting a lot of alfalfa to be planted in WA.
