Quit school, and at least rent the 1200.... if you have family that will help you as far as labor i'd definately say bye bye to school. I'm 26, and loved every moment of my 2 years of Jr. College, and made some of my best friends allong the way. But in the end i learned i would have been better off just shutting up and listening to my Dad, Uncle, and Grandfather. You'll learn most of what you need if you pay attention to the agronomist at the local co-op as far as fertility. Buying the land depends on how much "HELP" your gonna get. if you family has as much money as it sounds then i'd try to get someone else to buy it and as someone else one here said rent if off of them and buy some each year with any "profit" that may be left over from renting 2000 acres.
Does your family have most of the machinery needed to farm an additional 2000 acres? if so then your crazy to not persue it. Even minimal upgrades won't cost that much for machinery if your family already farms 2000+ acres.....
