A couple other reasons for the success maybe:
They were from CA like was pointed out earlier and that was a huge target market from the beginning. I believe AF missed out on the other major markets partly do to the lack of cash resources, and partly do to the lack of a great marketing plan.
Extremely, Extremely easy to use. Precision driving, field setup, path setup, is by far the easiest to navigate in the screen on the market. It is also either in Spanish, or English, so farm workers in southern CA can operate with ease.
For strictly steering, the A5 is still one of the best on the market. Its the other add on features that make it fall short.
