As I recall it was back in the late 70's give or take a year my BIL / sister and the kids came home for Christmas form Calif.

As was the custom we always cut a Cedar tree around the week before Christmas.

It had come a heavy snow so here we go headed to my grandparents farm since it was a good place for Cedars on the bluff leading off into the bottoms.

Snow was half knee deep for us adults so the kids were really having a time.

Well we found the right tree and cut the top out of it and headed back to the truck and were about wore out in the quarter mile trek.

When we got home nephew Yancy 10 yr old ran in to the house telling Mom

Grandma we went over to my Great Grandpa farm and cut our very own Christmas tree !

I think that was the only time they ever cut their own tree.
