If your poo is really thick, you will get an erratic. The thicker it is, the more erratic the reading.

We have a couple of flowmeters. When we're pumping watery poo the reading will be very stable.....when we get to the thick stuff the readings will be erratic. The Krohne somehow measures magnetic induction from charged ions flowing through the meter. My suspicion is that they are calibrated with water water and when we get to the thick poo the charged particles in the poo are different than mostly water.

You should also check that the pipes are grounded properly and that you enough voltage to the system. Krohne meters are very sensitive to low voltage.
