Subject: Re: New Holland 1920 PTO woes

Michigan.
That's kinda what I'm leaning towards. Although the pedal adjustment is close to the tight end of things, there IS one operator who is famous around here for not fully depressing the clutch and grinding the PTO when throwing the lever, and I'm thinking those stumps the other day were enough to finish things off.

My other thoughts were that possibly the gear wasn't fully engaged when timed with the detents, as can happen with other designs, but havn't figured out wether or not timing is an issue on this thing.

How big of PITA is replacing the gears and shaft if needed?

On the older stuff I have worked on, it wasn't too bad, but this will be the first time tearing into this tractors rear end.

I'll get the other stuff I'm working on moved, and get the 1920 in the shop next week I guess. Fall tilling can wait I reckon.

Thanks!
