Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning. | A pretty common small lathe that's sold under several different brand names. This guy has a review of it, or at least the HF version: http://www.bedair.org/9x20comments.html It is not as rigid as the HF 8X12 or Lathemaster 8X14 (same exact lathe except for paint color). If the longer bed is important, or if you plan to do a lot of threadcutting at different pitches, then the quick-change gearbox on the 9X20 would eliminate a lot of manual gear swapping that would be required on the 8X12. Any lathe is better than no lathe & if you outgrow it, there seems to be a market for selling them to help pay for bigger iron. |
