probably one of the best import lathes you can buy. its belt drive so it should be quieter than the grizzely or other gear head lathes. uncle ran a machine shop for many years on a jet lathe the next size up but still an import model.
grizzely makes nice stuff for a hobby or farmer, just remember its not a 1970 south bend by any stretch.
