Subject: EZ-Guide Update - Zero Speed etc.

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
The EZ-Guide when used with EZ-Boom in the past, assumed zero speed off. In other words, if the ground speed went to zero, the control valve went fully closed. In many cases that would be desirable and in other cases not. The firmware will now allow you to make a choice.

Following Raven's history, they went about it the other way around - their earlier controllers did not have zero speed off and the option was added later.

The zero speed off function allows many rigs to behave as if they have "ground drive" for the product flow. This works out well with many dry type rigs where a conveyor or metering roll is used to deliver the product. If the rig should slow down and stop, the flow would stop also. If the rig started to move, the conveyor would start to move in proportion to ground speed.

In other situations, zero speed off is counterproductive. For example in most liquid rigs, it is not desirable to have the control valve shut down during a stop. The reason being that when the rig does start moving and the control valve opens up that there is an unacceptable delay in the increase in product flow. This results in a low application rate for a distance after a stop until the system "catches up".

The best solution is a menu choice to allow the system to be setup for the best performance for either situation.

Concerning support for two electronic pressure guages - we hardly ever use any. Electronic pressure guages seem expensive and unreliable. We tend to use old technology of mechanical pressure guages. Pressure guages are useful and sometimes necessary but we feel that the mechanical type is sufficient.

Concerning planters - I would expect that a Tru-Count clutch package will be available for next season. There is little to prevent it from working right now - main problem is Tru-Count is not able to supply enough clutches for this season due to the extreme demand created by Ag Leaders Seed Command.
