Some people say there's no change. At least not permanent.

Think about this. There are 2 million pounds in 6" of soil and an acre. You are putting in maybe 250 pounds of NH3, 0.0125% or 125 parts per million. For that to change the pH, pH has to be very poorly buffered and that's often not the case in soil, that is that dumping tons of lime or 1/8 th ton of NH3 can't have much effect. I applied 1500 to 3000 pounds of lime per acre on my fields in 1989, the pH stayed at 6.8 for the next 18 years, then began to rise. Probably because I've never grid sampled so just am sampling different spots with a different pH.
