Subject: NH3 lowers soil PH faster then UAN use, is it Fact or Myth?

I have been reading some past topics on NH3 vs UAN and how NH3's free hydrogen ions cause the soil to decrease in PH and if you use UAN instead of NH3 you can save $$$ on lime, is this fact or myth.

If so, how do you calculate the PH drop with a soil PH of 6.8 putting down 140# of actual N at side dress with NH3 or 32%

Basically I am trying to figure out how much lime is really needed to return the soil back to the normal PH and to figure out if their is a ROI with using the more expensive UAN

Thanks
