Subject: RE: SI Belt meters breaking

The guy who normally drills my neighbors beans had to let someone else drill some of them because he has been breaking belts and he is running behind. I found out he uses 1/3 bottle of graphite per fill on his 20' drill. I jumped from 1 bottle to 2 bottles per fill this year and haven't had any belt breakage. Don't know why I did, just reasoned I'd have better luck if those big beans were really slippery, but it also is the lube for the belts so maybe that could be why I had no problems. Are you using enough graphite?
