Illinois | This is not necessarily what I "found" in a field, but sort of. I was interning one summer at an Ag retail location when I was riding along with one of the operators in a three wheeled floater spreading fertilizer on CRP ground. We were going along when all of a sudden the front end of the floater popped off the ground. Thinking we had hit a log or something, we both got out only to find that we had ran over a nice buck, still in velvet…obviously killing it. If I remember correctly is was a very nice typical 12 pointer. The funny part about it is that the guy I was riding with ended up mounting the deer (velvet and all) with the permission of the state of course! | |
