I don't know what shark-tooth cleaners look like, or how they are able to be adjusted. If the fingers inter-twine to much, they tend to dig and throw up mud. Can they be offset or moved apart for a coulter to be run between them. I'm not saying to use a coulter, just offset or move the row cleaners apart if you can.

We used to not like them either, for the reasons you state. It took us awhile to learn how to set them, our first set was assembled wrong at the dealership. We had that set laying in the corner of the barn before we figured out the problem. I think you have some time to play around if their adjustable. All of our corn is no-tilled into heavy winter wheat stubble, going on 13 years now.
