Subject: RE: No till garden

Mid Michigan
I did it one year and I won't ever do it again. The plants were pretty slow to come around and I went around all the plants with straw. The weeds did come through the straw and it just made it hard to ho the weeds. I also found out something new. Slugs like to live in staw. I had slugs eat up my pepper plants before they even got going. The sweet corn did ok but I didn't put straw around that. What worked MUCH better was planting the live plants into dirt covered with wood chips from the sawmill. The wood chips are the best by far for growing everything around here from maple trees to any garden plants and even bulbs around the house.
