It depends on how much you plan on doing and your knowlegde of drainage. Hire it done if your not planning on installing at least 20,000' every year. We bought a tile plow (and all the other equipment) about 12 years ago and it was a good investment for us. My Dad worked for the Soil Conservation Service for 10 years before he started farming and gained a lot of knowlegde about surveying and tile installation. He taught me and now we install about 100,000' of tile a year for ourselves and other local farmers. It still took us a couple of years to feel comfortable enough to do it for other farmers.
