Washington, Kansas & Lincoln, Nebraska | I'm going down to spec one out Wednesday and see where we're at. They're putting an all new 6.4L engine in these for '08. Hopefully it won't have the problems of the 6.0. I've been pouring over specs and options and I'm really impressed. Talked to a friend of mine who's been with an International truck dealer for over 30 years, most of it in the service department. He seems to think maybe the new engine will be a vast improvement.
He says we won't ever get away from the Variable Geometry turbo again. Emissions, I guess. Seems turbo and injector issues have been the biggies on the 6.0. The 6.4 engine is a twin turbo or two stage turbo engine. Ford guy I've been talking to, says only the small turbo on the 6.4 in the Ford is VG. He says the larger one isn't.
In other words I'd buy new, especially for the price difference you cite. Have fun shopping. |
