as for what n fixing cover grows best? Ill let that up to steve and others....fairly new to this.....the oats chop varies from year to year quality wise if that's what you were asking? When fairly cool and dry, the oats don't put much stem on and are super high quality feed...like candy for the cows....last fall's crop had cooler weather but also had moisture and got pretty rank....was more like a typical cereal grain quality.....like i said below......like a good rye crop only in the fall.....
