Kittitas Co. Wa. State

"Commodities go down over time because technology makes extracting them cheaper. This is a basic root of the rise in the standards of livings in civilized nations (and Canada also) since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution."

I have ran the same exact calculator on all kinds of things, tractors, fuel, fertilizer, etc.. and the funny thing is................

only farm crops say,,,, such as uh, wheat,, is still at $4.50 today.

same o' tired flawed reasoning...  Ag producer's shouldn't receive any more for their products because all that "cheap technology" they buy makes it so much cheaper to produce their crops. Oddly the fertilizer producers have laid off employees to prevent their products from becoming any cheaper. Phosphate plant in Idaho just shut down to protect their price return.

If that is such a great business model,,, why don't the Industries who supply those "high tech" inputs practice the same business model.  They've intragrated, automated, streamlined production of their products etc.. so they should be able receive less for their products and maintain the same net profit levels.... Although not one of them follows that rediculous business model foisted off on the Ag. sector.

Just curious.. how long have you worked for Monsanto ??  Your over reaction is unlike any farmer.. I was asking questions and pointing out new articles and found it interesting the Justice Dept is looking in to anti-trust laws along with several states A.G's offices.

here is the calculation on gas at .30/gal in 1974:

What cost $.30 in 1974 would cost $1.30 in 2008.

Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2008 and 1974,
they would cost you $.30 and $0.06 respectively.

Here is the cost of a 100+ hp tractor in 1974...JD4430..

What cost $23000 in 1974 would cost $99343.74 in 2008.

Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2008 and 1974,
they would cost you $23000 and $4979.54 respectively.

Your proposed business model for farming  doesn't appear to be the same every other industry uses..??

Probably should go sell crazy somewhere else we're all stocked up here.
