With our variable soils, I much prefer by soil type or yield map. I also liked what Greywolf said about matching the spreader width, I don't believe many people even think about that. A grid is worthless if it can't be spread properly. Then you need a high speed receiver and controller to keep up with the constantly changing rate. Plus it all depends on how it is sampled. Many people take a few cores next to their ATV and call that a 5 acre grid and that's not the way to do it.


I sure agree with you Nichols, I have looked hard at all the options for the past 30 some years and go right back to your view for the overall practicality of, Getting results !
