B73 type inbreds are still widely used within the Monsanto / ASI lineup. I'm sure they are not actually B73, but seem to be very similar and are probabaly a selection out of the original inbred. They are very high yielding female inbreds and work well to produce seed efficiently. Both the charecteristics of the hybrids and the mix of seed sizes that the female produces are indications of this.
