Subject: kill volunteer wheat now or in spring?

se wi
We've got a good volunteer wheat and tillage radish cover growing wildly this fall. With this mild weather there is an opportunity to spray out the wheat now. Will the benefits of overwintering the living roots trump having the residue dead and in a more advanced state of decay come spring? spray half and compare maybe? any experience on this? thanks
