I just checked the Garmin website. The Garmin Etrex H - as you mentioned is currently sold at Wal-Mart - does not do area calculations. Again, I repeat, it does not measure acres. Again, I recommend going to the Garmin website to check out which models to area calculations before a handheld is purchased.
