Subject: RE: How Close are you to the completion of harvest?

The report this week showed that 10% of the Illinois soybean crop was still in the field. Posts so far in this thread (at least at the time of this writing) showed every reporter in Illinois being done with the bean harvest. Anyone know where these beans are located at in Illinois?

Why is there such rampant concern with the late corn harvest this year, while in 1992 the harvest was not much faster and the market just floundered around near the lows during the harvest? I remember the 1992 crop having a high moisture content as well (at least in western and northwestern areas; not sure about the southeast) with some mold. Here's what several states were at in the corn harvest in 1992 on November 15; compare them to Ed's figures...

IL...70%
IN...53%
IA...60%
MI...15%
MN...55%
MO...73%
NE...57%
OH...37%
SD...37%
WI...36%

17% of the Nation's corn was still in the field in 1992 on December 6.
