If you want to just monitor yield, then leave the silver wedgebox unplugged. (You will probably get a warning at startup that says something like "mapping disabled, moisture-flow only". Just ignore that.) The greenstar harness is hooked into the combine speed circuit directly. You will not need GPS. The erratic yield reading you are seeing sounds like a faulty mass flow sensor up in the elevator. Check to make sure the impact plate does not have holes in it, is not touching the sides of the elevator, and there is no grain or chaff built up on the backside of the plate. If the yield is consistantly wrong, it will usually be a calibration problem, but if it is inconsistantly wrong, it is probably a faulty sensor. But the first thing to do would be to take all wiring connections apart, check for corrosion and pins pushed back in the connectors. I used to be the greenstar specialist at a JD dealer up until about a month ago, these things can be a real bugger. Hope this helps, I am kind of new to this site.
