Driftless SW Wisconsin
I think giving them just 4 - 7 days worth of grazing at a time helps since it seems like tye most dangerous period is the first day or two when they are lightly skimming the tops - leafy high nitrogen and protein part of the red clover and grass mix. After that they seem to go back over the paddock eating the lower portion and higher-fiber lower N part of the sward. Its that first day or two that really concerns me. Maybe they adapt to this cycle. I think the key is to limit their access. Thanks for replies. Jim at Dawn
