Subject: vacuum bagger advice

After thinking about it for a while we finally bought a food saver vac. We hope to use it to save left overs and we also intend to use it to package meals for my 85 yr old Dad to fix if we're not where he can join us for supper.

The instructions said to put a paper towel in bags to soak up moisture if it was needed. I found that even bagging some pot roast I needed to add a rolled up paper towel or else it sucked some of the juiced out of the bag with the vacuum.

Is this typical? Any comments or advice is appreciated.
