Subject: Some portable dynamometer history

https://dynotechdynamometer.com/aarons-power-corner/agricultural-pto...

Good info given here on some history of portable dyno’s used in the ag industry.

Long story short a prony brake style dyno is the only way to accurately measure PTO hp at the manufacturers rated engine speed.

A hydraulic dyno (M&W for instance) is ok for getting a general idea if the tractor is making close to rated horsepower but isn’t very accurate, especially if the operator doesn’t know what they are doing.
