Good point on the lying.
I had a mechanic years ago tell me they always told the farmer more HP than he had.
Farmers liked the bragging rights. Also if the farmer thinks he is running 40% over stock he will not want to turn it up or try to pull bigger implements as he figures he is pushing his luck already.
