| I have been hearing that we will have higher taxes for the last 20 years and yet instead I think we are at the lowest tax rate that we have ever been at. If you would have paid the taxes in the Clinton years at the high rate you would have way less money than if you invested that extra money and were paying the taxes on it today. Also if you die before you pay those taxes your heirs will receive that land or equipment at a stepped up basis. It make no sense to me to do it the way coup says but I also cannot buy my seed corn for $40 a bag and fertilizer for $30 an acre like coup does and half my neighbors do not own 2000 acres that are paid for. I have to be willing to say to myself I will never be as smart as coup so I have to do the best with what I know and for now I will follow Boones advice if I follow someone else. | |
