Texas & western Iowa | They called it 'shade blindness' when I first became aware that my vision was different.
I had no idea that my vision was abnormal/unusual until my physical exam going into the Navy in 68. The doc said I'd never be a pilot, but would make a good spotter. I had no idea what he meant. It was called the Ishihara test back then I think. The recruits in line with me were naming off numbers, and all I saw were circles.
It seems that shade blindness allows you to see shapes in camouflage. During my hunting days, my dad and grandad would comment that I could pick up on various types of wildlife that they were unable to spot until I pointed it out.
My primary problem/issue is with reds and greens. And the darker it is (cloudy vs sunny etc), the more alike they look. I have no issues with stop lights though. Bright enough I guess. | |
