Grandma's old freezer from 1949 finally wore out the compressor and is now vermin proof warm storage.
Mom and dad's 1948 Deep Freeze brand model C12 with a list price of $424.50 (label is still on the underside of the lid), still works fine. The hinge balance springs ,lid seal, broke years ago along with the latch. I have replaced this stuff with hardware store items. I wonder what $424.50 in 1948 $$ would convert to 2009 $$ ??
I wonder how much freezer the equivilent value would buy in todays $$.
