Subject: Re: Is 50 years old for a Freezer ?

West Central MN
We have a White King freezer which was old when my parents built this house in 1971. It is a big old thing which still works perfectly. I have heard the secret with the older ones is to never unplug them. Just leave them run and they will work almost forever.

I know what you mean about moving them out whenever they do die. When my parents built the house they actually lowered the freezer into the basement with the loader tractor before they started putting the floor joists in. I will have to measure it someday to see if it will actually come out of the basement in one piece or not.
