SWMN
That blue wire is what we call a "wake-up" or "daisy chain" circuit. It's a signal voltage sent through each SRM (row control module) from tractor keyswitch and ONLY utilized once at the very first system startup to register serial numbers of all components to the display to their respective rows for CAN communication purposes. After that, it's only used if we change out an SRM to assign that new module to row X. So, basically it can be shortened and crimped without concern for CAN integrity, but you'll want to keep it intact in the circuit for future hardware swaps.

I can't speak to technical CAN integrity specifically, but if you wanted to shorten and re-crimp, pinouts are:
1-CAN Hi
2-CAN Lo
3-Shield
4-Wake-up

If you go that route and run a Gen3 20/20 you can monitor CAN communication quality through the Diagnose page under the SRM section. There will be an attribute for each row titled "CAN Errors".

Several different lengths of these CAN extensions are available also if you wanted to avoid modification. Lengths available are 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 45, 50, 60, and 65'.
