| That actually means nothing. Anything to blunt the affects of covid other than the vaccine have been drilled into everyone's head as bad. That's really really stupid. It isn't science unless you think politicians, bureaucrats (FDA included) and CNN are your sources for medical knowledge.
So, we have this sudden appearance of a potentially deadly virus (not the "with covid" deaths btw) and we don't have any experience. The normal thing to do is do what you can - broadcast information on things to help your immune system - eat right, standard set of respiratory disease supplements and vitamins, get outside, excerise, etc. Next, look in the tool box for what is approved with little or no side effects (hcq, ivermectin, otc cold remedies). Also noting that bad reactions to respiratory viruses are often caused by our own immune system overreaction, steriods like dexamethasone and prednisone are helpful. It's debated that hcq and ivermectin have similar effects. None of it will be 100% effective, but will help a high percentage of folks. It's our own immune system that is the cure so doing things to help it are a good idea.
This buys time for research and development of more robust "cures" (if possible). Our current vaccine is nifty science, but it has an uphill battle dealing with respiratory viruses (even the flu shot isn't great). Being just the spike protein, it's a bit of a "fool mother nature" (or china) type thing. Something better will need to be developed, but it's not like we haven't been working on flu vaccines forever (people still get the flu btw).
Politicians want to sell themselves as the answer to everything and for some stupid reason we believe them. Even more stupid is us looking to politicians for any answers - they are supposed to be our representatives (all the way to potus). So the I'll revise my to do list to fight covid to start with - stop listening to the TV then work on your immune system and possibly get the shot. | |
