So, your FIL bought this farm and this auction was for the prior owner's stuff? How big was that farm? Maybe if they had cows and hogs they were sold already.
Thinking about what my grandpa would have had in '51 in comparison.... I do know they had a '36 Allis WC and '48 MM Z and 4 horses at that time. Horses were gone within a couple of years.
I've a scan of a auction for my Mom's uncle who passed suddenly in '69 and the stuff sold then. He was 65 at that time so about retiring anyway. There are notes on it for what stuff brought. I don't have one for maternal grandpa who retired farming about that same time but have some idea of his machinery too. | |
