I struggle with the math, too.

Last year, we had 7.7" of rain from April 1 through Sept 7 and we started picking corn on September 16. Our corn on corn farm average was like 197 bu. So how many inches of moisture did we get out of the soil? 14-18"? Or does corn not really need 22-25" during it's life cycle? Maybe there are too many variables.

And our weather during the 1st half of July this year...99.9% humidity/fog every morning for almost 2-3 weeks and very little wind during the day...how much did that help out the corn? Sure made it hard to make nice hay...


Edit: That "Average Crop Water Use" chart has been posted a few times in the last couple of weeks. I haven't seen any comments made regarding the accuracy of it. So we all accept it as being correct?
