| I am neutral on this issue.
The real issue I have with dealing with the ag retailers is what they do the farmer when the shoe is on the other foot. In the past couple years we have all been faced with very volatile input prices. In our area dealers don't like a two way street. If they have cheap inventory when the price goes up, they get the farmer at the higher price. However, you would think if prices go down and they are stuck with overpriced, uncontracted product they would have a hard time telling the farmer it is his fault and "should" write down their product. This didn't happen this past spring.
IF the retailer wants contracts of when the crop was sold, they should start showing the farmer contracts on products they are buying and selling. I might be wrong, but i doubt many retailers will do this.
Just my two cents. | |
