From what I've experienced as a school board member, there is a segment of our society who saw covid as a death sentence from the beginning. These are people I would have considered intelligent and rational before this started. They held on to any method of prevention of getting covid, even after it was clearly wrong. Our school still insists on having water fountains turned off because they apparently still think covid is spread by touching the handles...

So now, even though they are vaccinated, and seemingly at little risk of severe illness or death, they cannot grasp onto the fact that there is an obvious statistical difference in the way covid affects and obese inactive 70 year old, and a healthy 8 year old. They see the vaccine as a magic potion, one size fits all cure to everyone's problems.

In our 400 student district, there have been roughly 10 covid cases this year, none of which are proven to have originated in our 1 building school. There have been 63 "close contacts" from these cases, none of which have resulted in a positive covid test. One would think by chance, one of these people would have tested positive. But the majority of the board still insists on dividing the vaxxed and unvaxxed into 2 groups when determining if the close contacts can stay in school.

It's a clear example of the "vaccination is the only way" crowd's inability to evolve.
