If you have a large enough area for the sweet corn, you might want to consider planting the Three Sisters: sweet corn, white beans around the base of the corn which help restore nitrogen, and zucchini that will shade out the exposed ground. If you don't want the beans/zucchini, you could always donate them to a local food bank.
