There is no danger of losing it in the well as long as you have screwed on your extension and it has a T handle.The female portion is outside the casing,the nub with treads comes from inside,it will be threaded in and out side.the outside nut will have a gasket,the internal threads are pipe threaded .Stainless nipple is what we use,here the usually run casing to ledge , doesnt drop when setting on ledge.
