Kipps, run a wire or baling twine from top of casing to hole cut for pitless adapter. Tie it off while threading the inside piece of adapter over the twine. then let it drop down and you can fish it through the hole and put the gasket, flange and nut on. I wouldn't use and galv. fittings to the pitless fitting nor poly fittings I only use brass or stainless. Here all we use is brass compression to HDPE CTS poly pipe. As far as taking the rusted fitting out you can chisel it out or take a real fine small metal blade and put in Sawzall and make a couple of cuts in it, it helps when chiseling it out out. Then make sure to use Teflon tape and lots of pipe dope when rethreading fitting back in , if threads are damaged a little so it will seal up.
