In the grocery store business, They measure their performance based upon Sales per SQFT of floor space. The limiting factor is the size of their foot print, They have no lack of products to put in that space. just like you measure yields per acre.
So Whole foods showed the entire grocery store industry that they could double their sales per SQFT with organics. So every grocery store chain decided that they needed to do the same thing. Its a pure financial improvement plan for them, They will say anything to convinced the consumer to pay 2-3 times for a product that not a single one of them could tell the difference. Its a brilliant marketing play and that is it. | |
