Dagmar, MT | I'm only talking about producers I know personally in my area. They aren't exactly bashful about their business practices. I have no doubt that most organic guys in the US do it the right way, unfortunately that's not the case up here.
There have been 3 high profile organic fraud cases I'm aware of. The one I linked above, the Constandt case in Missouri & an alfalfa seed salesperson in Idaho. The only reason for convictions in those cases were GMOs were found. It really pisses me off when our new Ag Secretary tells us organic is sustainable and good for the soil when just yesterday I watched my organic neighbor's fields blowing away in a 30mph wind. | |
