Subject: RE: Since organic farming is our salvation........

n. Illinois
Organic farming has its place, but it will never be widespread because it will doom millions to death by starvation. The Yields will drop dramatically as there is just not enough livestock to generate the nutrients needed. Don't tell me that i know someone who is getting such and such yield on a small operation that is comparable. yes on a small scale you might be able to get equivalent yields but do that over millions of acres by operators with different skill set etc. National corn yield will plummet. people will starve (not the elites of course)

But you don't farm based upon the national policy etc. You farm based upon what is best for you. So I have seen small scale operations convert to organic farming (300-500ac) and be able to provide and thrive financially because their margin (gross minus operating costs) exceeds the gross of their conventional neighbors. . Its hard work, They farm with 1950-1960 techniques. they have to work way harder to market it. No waiting to need cash flow, need to know people in the business who need their product etc. no getting the market on your cell phone etc.

It has its place for some people so if your customer wants a purple cow, sell them a purple cow but make sure you get paid well for it.
