Pittsburg, Kansas | Dr Eric Westman gave an example of a person in his clinic who was not losing weight. He ask him about what he was eating and if he was strictly following the approved food list he was given. Said he was. Then he heard something rattle in the guys pocket. Tic Tacs. Well one might not hurt but come to find out the guy ate a box or two a day. Cut out the Tic Tacs and started losing weight.
The point is, anything that slips into the diet that raises insulin is going to prevent the person from burning body fat. Insulin is a fat storage hormone. If a person snacks on anything that raises it, the body goes into fat storage mode rather than fat burning mode.
So be careful of even things that might seem minor indiscretions.
