Subject: RE: Update on flat grain storage

Adam,

On your heat extractors....I am assuming those pipes are perforated with slots or holes ?
Is there like a large plate on the bottom of them to keep them upright until a certain amount of grain is placed around them ?
How hot / warm is the grain when you dump it in there ?
Do you know moisture content ?.

I'll add to some of my ideas for what I was planning on trying / doing :

I was going to use a large bin fan or more on one end of the building, and force air thru a large pipe ( the same diameter as the tube needed for the fan ) , horizontally on the floor, then run the fans to cool / aerate the grain. These tubes could end capped off in the building, or all the way thru, and exit out the other side.
Problem was...what about the grain say 3ft past the side of the tube, would there be hot spots ?

The fan / air tubes could be connected or disconnected as simple as double walled drainage tile, and connected with band clamps or bell housing type.
This was my idea for a trough at certain intervals....cover these with bin floor type grating, and run the air thru the troughs when needed.

I have loaders that reach over my trucks, so I would load most grain out that way, then maybe use a vac to finish, or a rotary sweeper on a garden tractor or whatever to get the last grain into loader bucket.

Thanks !
