We got a 3020 30’ not long after they came out. It has the hydraulic cutter bar. In our conditions I haven’t really seen any performance gains due to it. The issues I had was stems and leaves wrapping around the sickle and stop cutting. No changing the settings would help. Also the linkage mechanism on the hydraulic cutter bar dosnt have jam nuts so they can eventually move. Last year we had a bad problem with it pushing. The salesman stopped out and adjusted the pressure on it and it was much better. Kinda was embarrassed not to think of it myself. So I run the gauge in green and forget about it. When I have checked for loss there isn’t enough beans on the ground to worry about. I have seen other heads in the area that look like they cut beans with a razor ours always looks a little ragged even with a new knife and guards but there is very little loss. It’s been a good head but I haven’t seen much gain from the hyd knife. We are fairly flat and the bean ground is worked and rolled usually after planted.
